Pentel Orenz Explained: 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 & Orenz Nero Differences
Orenz is the pencil I would show someone who thinks 0.2mm lead sounds impossible. The whole mechanism exists to make that tiny lead usable.
Orenz protects the lead by letting the sliding pipe do the work.
Pentel says standard Orenz is designed to write with the lead kept inside the protective pipe; Nero adds automatic lead advancement after the first setup.
0.2, 0.3 or 0.5?
Pentel currently sells Orenz in 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5mm. Its own positioning describes 0.2 for extremely precise writing, 0.3 for compact clean notes and 0.5 for mainstream writing with break protection.

Pentel instructs users to write without extending graphite beyond the protective pipe. The pipe slides as the lead wears.
Orenz Nero
Nero adds an automatic lead-feed mechanism: after the initial setup, the mechanism advances lead as the tip leaves the paper.
If you're curious but nervous about 0.2mm, that's literally what Orenz was made for. Just use it the way Pentel shows — don't click a long piece of lead out like a normal pencil.
