Sharp Genuine Filters vs Third-Party Filters: What the Official Support Page Says
I know third-party filters can be tempting when importing from Japan because the genuine part may be hard to find locally. I still want the manufacturer's warning visible before anyone makes that trade-off.
Sharp's position is clear: genuine consumables are the validated configuration.
Sharp says its products are performance- and quality-checked with genuine option parts and consumables.
What Sharp says can happen with non-genuine parts
Sharp warns that non-genuine consumables may prevent the original humidifying or dust-collection performance from being achieved. It also says failures caused by non-genuine parts may be treated as paid repair even during the warranty period.
Humidifying or collection performance may differ.
Failures caused by non-genuine parts can be outside free warranty handling.
Even genuine parts need the exact compatible model.
This does not mean every third-party filter is automatically bad. It means the manufacturer has only validated the genuine configuration it specifies.
Why this matters more when importing
If genuine filters are difficult or expensive to ship to your country, that recurring cost belongs in the purchase decision before you import the purifier.
I check “Can I buy the next filter?” before “Can I buy the purifier?” It feels backwards, but long-term ownership gets much easier.

Bottom line
Filter availability is part of purifier compatibility. A cheap imported machine with impossible consumables is not really cheap.
